Once again it is that time of year to reveal the Pantone color of the year.
For 2014 the color is . . . Radiant Orchid
Last year’s color of the year was Emerald Green. We discussed on more than one occasion how to add Emerald Green to your décor to bring your interior up to date.
Emerald Green was a great color choice for 2013 as it reflected a spirit of growth, renewal and prosperity.
Radiant Orchid symbolizes creativity, imagination and originality, all of which have increasing value in our society today. The 2014 color of the year is a harmony of fuchsia and purple with pink undertones.
In the fashion world, Radiant Orchid is said to be surprisingly versatile. It livens the skin, causing it to look healthy and energetic. Radiant Orchid can be paired with shades of lavender, purple, pink and even red in for blush, lipstick and nails.
For decorating ideas, you will find some new pieces to add to your décor such as lamps, pillows, chairs, artwork, and accent furniture pieces.
Colors that pair well with Radiant Orchid are olive and deep hunter green, as well as turquoise, teal and light yellows. This vibrant color will do well with and liven up neutrals like beige, grey and taupe.
I even think you can add some accents of Radiant Orchid with the Emerald Green you added to your décor last year. I encourage you to start with small amounts and work your way up, being creative and imaginative, as the color suggests.
