Well the Pantone Color of the Year for 2015 is Marsala – have any of you added Marsala to your home by way of accents like pillows, candles, towels, or flowers? Have you added Marsala to your wardrobe, nail polish or shoe collection?
Right now in the middle of the summer in the Midwest, it is hard to think of using a darker color like Marsala, although it does go well with light blues, light greens and whites. We are sure to see more of our Color of the Year as the fall approaches and we are drawn to the deeper richer tones of the cooler weather.
Marsala is a rich, warm, earthy brown-red with a bit of sophistication.
On the east coast Marsala is seen anywhere from food to fashion, and weddings to windows. But here in Ohio we started out the spring and summer session with a lean toward the brighter lighter colors. Pantone coordinated some great cooler, subtle warm tones to go with Marsala this year – Aquamarine, Scuba Blue, Dusk Blue, Woodbine, Beveled Glass, Toasted Almond, Sandstone, Titanium, Glacier Gray, Custard, Strawberry Ice, and Tangerine. Using any of these colors with the Color of the Year would put you right in the fashion forward mode.
So since we like fabrics, let’s look at some Marsala choices in decorator fabrics for your home to get you in the mood for the rest of the year. First we have RM Coco –
And now Greenhouse Fabrics –
When we looked up fabrics to show you in brown-reds for today, the designs had quite similar names – cabernet, merlot, red wine, and wine. Other fabric patterns were called spice, cayenne and cinnamon. Marsala itself is a name for a wine that is often used in a chicken preparation. Other food photos we found were red-brown combinations using chocolate in goodies like red velvet cupcakes and moonpies. Let’s take a look at more fabric samples (so we can go have a yummy snack and design more custom curtains and draperies for your home.)
And finally from Carole Fabrics –
