Outdoor Custom Sheer Curtains
More and more of us are seeking to relax and unwind in a special space in our home – the outdoor living space.
After a long day on the job and a hectic commute home, we seek the peaceful atmosphere of home and nature brought together.
The addition of curtains or fabric to the outdoor living space makes the area seem even more cozy and “homey” as the soft folds of fabric move with the gentle breeze.
These curtain panels can simply add to the peaceful atmosphere or they can be used to defuse the sunlight, add privacy or even provide a barrier from unwanted insects.
Which fabric should I use?
The fabric choices for outdoor curtains are not quite as numerous as other décor fabrics but are still very plentiful. They range in opaque to sheer and come in lots of solids as well as stripes, florals, foliage, geometric and chevron patterns. A very common name brand of outdoor fabric is Sunbrella, that produces fabrics for outdoor seating cushions, umbrellas and boating accessories too.
Outdoor fabrics such as those made by Sunbrella and other manufactures are specially manufactured and treated to withstand the weather and UV rays. Outdoor fabrics are water repellent, fade resistant, mold, mildew and stain resistant. These woven textiles are made from a variety of synthetic fibers like acrylic, polyester, olefin, nylon and sometimes blends of cotton.
The curtains can be made with tab tops or grommets to slide along a pole; pleats, to clip onto coated outdoor rings, or simply made to gathered on a pole.
Outdoor fabrics are easy to clean – simply brush off dirt before it becomes embedded in the fibers, wipe spills and splashes or spot clean when needed. The fabric is made to dry very quickly in the open air making your curtains not only a beautiful but low maintenance addition to your outdoor living space.
Now is actually a great time to think about adding curtains to your outdoor living space if you don’t already have some – you can treat yourself to early holiday gift and the curtain will be ready to go for next spring!
