Treat the Whole Wall
Sometimes you just have to give up on pairs of draperies!
My client wanted to cut down on glare and soften the look of windows on either side of her fireplace. She knew she had a problem, however, because the windows were very close to the fireplace. Not only would draperies crowd the fireplace, they could be a fire hazard.
Our solution was to treat the whole wall as if it were one window. Instead of draperies hanging on each side of each window, we hung one pair, but only on the outside edges of the windows. With plenty of space beyond the outside edges, we were able to move the draperies away from the center of the wall and reduce the amount of fabric hanging over the glass. This made the windows look wider, giving them a better scale to the entire wall. Top cornices completed the look and bound the two windows together visually. Hunter Douglas semi-opaque Duette Honeycomb shades provided glare control.
