Barbara called me to help with her window treatments because I had also worked with her daughter. I love referrals! Barbara wanted window treatments in every room of her lovely ranch home. She was nervous, not really knowing what she wanted and feeling like it would be impossible for her to make decisions.I actually work best with people who feel that way.
I have a process to help you narrow down ideas and choices quickly. Even those who tell me they can never make a decision will usually have selected something they are very happy with after just a couple short hours. The biggest challenge in Barbara’s mind would be this living room.
Designing a Box Pleat Valance with Jabots
She had new furniture that would help guide our fabric selection. Barbara did not have experience mixing several fabrics together in a room. I assured her it would be easy. It is always easier when you have an inspiration piece. In this case, it was the new chairs sitting in front of the window. They have a leaf pattern in two colors – gold and teal. She had already selected this valance design after looking through all my pictures, so we knew we needed two different colors.
We easily found a gold fabric that Barbara liked to use for the main fabric. Because of our inspiration piece, the second color choice was easy. A quick flip through a couple more fabric books brought us to the perfect teal fabric to pair with the gold. Barbara was “thrilled with how the window treatment brings the whole room together!”
