Get Ready for Spring with Sunbrella!
Sunbrella is the go-to manufacturer of outdoor fabrics – perfect for the patio, deck, porch, or sunroom.
And now is the right time to order new cushions, pillows, and draperies to get your outdoor living spaces ready for the warm, sunny weather ahead.
Sunbrella fabrics are great for the outdoors because they resist stains, insects, fungi, mildew, and sun damage. The synthetic fiber is water repellant, easy to clean and dries quickly. Here’s a look at a few new colors and designs for 2015:
Sunbrella started out manufacturing fabric for awnings after they did so well with rayon parachutes during WWII, panty hose, and the fabric for the USA flag planted on the moon by the astronauts of Apollo 11. Their durable alternative to cotton, is made from acrylic fibers having the look and feel of cotton, without the fading or degrading factors. By using acrylic fibers pigmented before extrusion (forced through holes, forming threads), Sunbrella revolutionized the awning fabric industry in the 1960’s. They started out with only 6 colors and have branched out with many many new colors, patterns and designs for today. Here’s a few more:
In the early 70’s boaters discovered the great look and durability of Sunbrella fabrics for boat tops, sail covers, and marine upholstery. In the 80’s the company expanded into furniture cushions for patios and decks. Their fabric was chosen over the popular vinyl at the time, because it looked more like indoor fabric and held up better. Today we use Sunbrella fabrics in our outdoor living spaces, pool side, on the boat and even in our home. The stain resistant durable fabric is a popular choice for inside seating and pillows where children and pets reside.
Cleaning is an easy task as well. A solution of ¼ cup mild detergent to a gallon of water can be sprayed, brushed or sponged on, allowed to soak in for a few minutes, and rinsed off with your garden hose. Air drying is the best, even for draperies that can usually be machine washed in cold water in a gentle cycle. After a cleaning you will want to retreat with a 303 fabric guard to insure the durability of the fabric for many more years to come.
From awnings and boat upholstery, to patio furniture, pillows, draperies, and even convertible car tops, Sunbrella has all your outdoor fabric needs taken care of.
